It sort of depends on what type of blues you are playing (SRV, old Clapton, BB King, Albert King, Buddy Guy, etc)...

But I think you would do well to check out the Fender tube amps. They have a Blues Junior and Hod Rod Deluxe for about $300 and $500, respectively.

You can find them alot cheaper used, but make sure you do your homework before buying a used tube amp (it might need new tubes, etc).

If you get a tube screamer pedal to go along with it, it'll be a very versatile setup.

I myself own a Fender HotRod Deluxe (40w, 1x12", three channels resp. 2 1/2 - the OD-channel's got two "modes") and I think it's a good choice esp. for blues-players. It's got a very nice clean-sound (it's a Fender...), the OD-channel provides a large variety of sounds, too, but don't expect this amp to be a "high-gain amp" (once more: it's a Fender). It's worth its price (about 700 €) I think.
Try it if you get the chance!
