didnt know where to post this so ill try here, my band is going to record from home and i was wondering if you guys knew what some of the best or the best computer recording programs there are out there, or should i not even go through a computer and get a like 1500 dollar korg recorder or something. Also, is reason for recording you band stuff? cause i heard that was a very good programs

I am no expert in this but it seems that everywhere I go, People are using Pro-Tools software and hardware.

Cakewake have lot of great programs try pro audio
or Adobe Audition ;)

Adobe audition is cheap and easy to use, reason is more of a synth, sampler sequencer, not for recording and mixing your band!
