hey
i cant exactly describe what this i called but i'll give you an example. Demon Driver By Yngwie Malmsteen. the solo. the first sweep looks like this

10--7----7---
------7-7-----
-------7------
--------------
--------------
--------------

if i use one finger to fret all the 7's and play the sweep slow it sounds ok and the strings dont ring after it but when i try to go faster it sounds crappy and the strings ring. when i try to use seperate fingers for the 7's and play it fast it sounds even worse coz i cant move my fingers that fast.

am i doing anything wrong or is it just a matter of practicin it?

cheers

Jonny

The trick is to "roll" the barre finger over the fretboard so that you only touch one string at a time. The movement required is very small you're only lifting your finger enough so that the string doesn't touch the fret.

Oh and muting a little with your righthand might also help you.

i didnt realise i was actually doing the rolling of the finger while i was playing the lick slowly. i shall now work at it 2 get it faster

once again cheers
