Ok, im a struggling musician. i have had a guitar for maybe 6 years now, and i am a very weak novice. i cant seem to get inspired or interested. my amp sucks, which i think may be part of it. I know it shoudl be, but its a 10w kustom with bad grounding (picks up radio stations at times), but i dont know. I was thinking of buying a bass soon, trying something new. I took lessons for a while, but quit because of school being too hard at the time. Now the teacher is booked and there arent many others that i know of around here.

So i was wondering has anyone else had this problem and got it resolved? I want to play guitar, im just sort of lazy and get frustrated ill admit.

Also i want to start singing again. I was in the Louisville choir for a while a few years back. After that i really just didnt sing at all, and now when i try i cant stay in key and i just suck. Does anyone have any sites for practicing vocals/ vocal exercises??

thanks.

Just what do you want from yourself??

I read you wanna sing, i read you wanna play bass, i read you wanna play guitar...*sighs*...First and foremost, you should define yourself and decide what you wanna learn...another thing...Nothing comes easy at music...be it singing, guitar or bass you have to practice A LOT...practice as much as you think you need...but it's up to you, my friend...nobody will want things to happen for you...i mean, if you wanna progress, you should put that sickening and tiring lazyness and get your instrument...come on, nobody can play your guitar for you...nobody can practice for you...

Too bad that i just can't tell you antyhing else...it's up to you, buddy...find the time to be a musician...oh, and by the way...you're not struggling...you just don't want, that's what i think. I'm sorry for that, i don't wanna be rude or offensive, but that's just my opinion...if you really want to, you'll find the way...and the desire..if you don't have any desire...well, good luck.

i'm sure this wasnt intended to sound this way, but from that I read that you should pick one instrument and practice yourself to exhaustion with it. That is certainly not true. You may find it very rewarding to pursue a variety of musical paths (i.e. instruments) rather than mastering only one.

The biggest part of learning any musical instrument is self discapline. Nobody can make you do it and really learn it but yourself. Thats not to say however that it shouldnt be enjoyed, indeed, it's essential that you enjoy it otherwise you won't have that self motivation to pick it up in the first place. I think the best first step is to listen to LOADS of music, different music, music thats new to you, music that you like and let it really inspire you. If music does not inspire you, then you would feel no need to create it anyway.

Good Luck!

that's a bad starting point to get better with anything.

maybe, if you could tell why you want to play guitar we could analyze what's going wrong.

How many song books do you own? A novice will usually learn about one or two songs from a book so I recommend you get many books.

All these things you see as limitations are merely a relationship of time, and the impatience of your potential to come.

i love music. i am involved with recording some local bands and am around the "scene" alot. I would like to learn to play an instrument so i could perform my own music. I guess thats my concentrated reason why.
