Hey all,

Just wondering if anybody has a book, website or other resource to build chops (precision, quickness and fluidity) that they tried and would recommend.

I mostly play jazz/blues and I find that I'm often limited by the fact that my playing is not fluid...

Granted that fretboard knowledge and overall experience come into play, but I'm wondering if a few well targeted exercises could help me get that roadblock out of the way asap. Descending chromatic runs are a bit of a challenge at this moment. It's not that I can't play em (I can!), it's just that I can improvise with them without it seeming as if it is "forced", out of place....

I'd like to be able to play what I want and what I hear without actually having to think about technique if you know what I mean.

Suggestions?

Well, first off here at IBM they have lots of articles on shredding. If none of them here please you then I would recommend Chops From Hell. This site is very awesome and has articles from very awesome guitarists like Rusty Cooley, Francesco Fareri, Marcel Coenen, and yes even Sven Stichter who goes under the alias Phantom on these boards (I hope I spelled Sven's last name right...lol).

If I were you I'd just practice some great jazz songs by song awesome fusion/jazz/blues artists. My personal favorite jazz players are Shawn Lane and Allan Holdsworth. Good luck.
