Hello forum residents :)

just wondering what guitars everyone here owns... when it comes to guitars, it's kinda difficult sticking to 1, many of us end up having a bunch as it all boils down to tonal difference (had a hard time telling my wife this...). well, do list what you own here :D

My list:

*Ibanez S540 X 2
*Ibanez RG7620
*Ibanez GAX 70

Ok...

* Black BC Rich Warlock (tuned D-G-C-F-A-D, reverse headstock)
* Sunburst Arbiter Les Paul (really good Les Paul replica. Bad pickups, have changed one of them so it sounds ok)
* Black Kramer Focus 6000 (This is a really crappy guitar at the moment, awful pickups. The neck is great tho).
* Kasuga Acoustic Steel (Martin Replica. Sounds and plays great!)
* Pro Session 12-string(6 string now) Acoustic steel. (This is hardly playable. I keep it hung on the wall. It looks better than it sounds).

I have a meager quiver, but I'm working on it
[...moneymoneymoneymoney...]

Squier Starter Kit Stratocaster (in pieces on my table. Gonna solder it back together tomorrow so Monday I'll no longer have to drop the tuning on my real guitar during practice)

ESP Ltd HP-150 w. two humbuckers. (my real guitar. When I got it, it was the absolute most awesomest thing in the whole wide world. I still like it a lot, but now I want a real live Gibson Les Paul :D)

Samick steelstring acoustic (CRAP! but I play it anyway)

Ovation Celebrity Acoustic/Electic (CRAP! Electronics don't work, my friend has it)

I'm going to sell my acoustics for about 100 each and drop 300 on a nylon-string acoustic with which to romance the ladies.

I have to show this thread to my wife, so she'll see how I need more guitars in order to keep up with everyone on this site! :p

Samick LK35DOS (or something like that). My first electric. Bought on impulse (mid-life crisis), then I got hooked. Its a cheap guitar ($150) with a strat style body (no pickguard though, I hate the way pickguards look) with an HSS configuration. I've replaced two of the three original cheap pickups. I've got an EMG active p/u in the bridge. I actually don't know the model. Its got no ID numbers on it, and it came from a used guitar. I've got a DiMarzio DP187 Cruiser in the neck, which is a stacked humbucker. I can actually get a tone I like pretty well with the original middle s.c. p/u, so I probably won't replace it (although I do have a single coil active EMG that I might try in there someday).

Yamaha RGX610M. I just got this one. I actually have two of these which I used to make one. This guitar also has a strat-shaped body (off-white mother of pearl-looking), and again, no pick-guard. This model guitar was made only in 1989 and 1990 I believe (Its amazing how obscure this guitar seems to be). The neck on this thing is awesome. The fretboard is maple (the "M" in the part no. signifies this). It just feels great. This guitar has only one p/u, a humbucker. With help from James (thanks dude!), I wired it up to allow coil splitting. I'm surprised at the variety of tones one can get from this guitar with only one pickup. It really sounds quite warm with the tone rolled off and picking near the neck. In case you can't tell, the honeymoon is in full swing with me and with this guitar. :D It does have a floating Floyd Rose type bridge, and the jury is still out on whether I'll like that or not. I guess I oughta give myself a few weeks, and then get over to harmony central and write a review, since there's none up for this guitar.

Cheers,
Dan

thanks for sharing :D i hope this list is a helpful reference should we need to look up for common gear to relate to any problems...

looks like we have a couple of super-strat owners here... not to mention those who swapped pickups too.

metallibeast:
i swapped my LP's pickup too, the bridge now has a Dimarzio DLX PLus- a P-90 sized humbucker... not a P-90 hum fan... ;)

You can find out more about the Gothic ES series here. (http://www.gibson.com/products/gibson/disc.html)

However I did not c a ES 175 Gothic though.

Gibson listed the ES-135 and 335 Gothics as models discontinued models for 1999.

It is possible that Gibson might reproduce a ES Gothic again. If you take a look at 1997, they stop producing LP Studio in Alpine White but this year they are producing it again.

i have my mind set on the RR5, anyone has anything to say on this one?

Well I have like the cheapest of the rhodes, and I don't use it right now cause it needs some work, new pickups, new pots,....etc... but, with the new models and higher up models I like them alot, I thought about making those my main guitar for awhile, but no need for me to really have a "main" guitar right now, especially since I got my wolfgang. anyways I don't know how much help that was.....:( but I'm sure someone else will have somthing to say before too long.

Damn you really loving collecting guitars dun you? What is it about Ibanez that makes you wana get more? Btw I couldn't find anything on RG1550 on the Ibanez website. Is it a older model?

I think you can do something like Slash's Wall of Les Paul;of course appropriately titled Daimonion's Wall Of Ibanez. Any photos? :D

The S620X seems pretty nice but the neck's kinda thin though. Can't get use to it. I'm way too use to the thick neck on my Les Paul. Looking forward to getting a new guitar this year. Juz can't settle on one that I like and can afford.

Btw howz the PRS like?

the question for my wolfgang to me is not what do I like about it, but what don't I like about it! I love this guitar to death, you'll either love or hate the neck, the pickups are hot as hell, the floyd is extremly stable, which I'm sure has to do with not being able to pull up the notes, (sometimes I like that and some times I don't, could be a flaw in design in some peoples eyes) I didn't think the maple neck could get any better then I tried a custom shop wolfie  ebony fretboard, the smoothest neck I have ever felt!! If I could add anything it would be a coil tap, to get some more sounds outta this guitar, because It is a straight forward heavy guitar, but I love it! I have the Usa model, the first version in ivory with black trim, I hope thats enough any more questions just ask...hope thats what you wanted

bro thanx for the wolfgang insight. i've personally tried the tune-o-matic version + maple fingerboard & liked the neck, IMO it beats a fender maple fingerboard...

------------------------
the Ibanez RG 1550 is a new entry to the prestige line (together with its other sibling the 1570). these are revised replacements for the previously available RG 550 & 570 respectively. the details of these guitars aren't available up on the ibanez site as yet but do browse through other 2003 models.

ibanez guitars give me the feel & the tone. they respond to my playing style. others whom i talked to hate these guitars to bits due to its paper thin neck & a tone-robbing trem. i think it's because i have small hands...

however i feel as comfortable playing my PRS McCarty which has fine tone. the PRS feels superb, even with that wide-thick neck profile, shredding is not a problem. it's a mathematical construction magic. :p

My collection is just getting restarted. Had to sell everything I use to own because of some rotten luck but I have started to get back into playing so what I have so far is;

B.C. Rich Red ST3 Reverse Head Stock 1992 USA (warren,NJ by class axe)
B.C. Rich Warlock NJ Series Tansblue Quilted maple top whs (surprisingly great guitar for being made in korea)

Thru a simple MD15CD Marshall since I dont gig yet or have a need for a larger amp as of yet anyway. I will buy a AVT50/100 combo later this spring I hope. I am also building a custom harley at the moment so funding to expensive hobbies is sorta tuff lol :p

I just last week got another guitar to add to my collection. An acquaintance of mine recently started smoking crack, and is hocking all his stuff, and for 75 dollars sold me an Epiphone somethingorother.

I tried to find it online, but I can't. It's black, says both gibson and epiphone on the headstock. 6 tuners in line. The frets are rounder under the 6-5-4 strings than the 3-2-1, and it doesn't seem to be from wear.

It's a strat-style body, a black pickguard with a humbucker at the bridge, and two singles. It's got a pretty good tremolo on it. How would I find out what kind of guitar it is, and its relative value? I can't find numbers, any made in tags, anything. Maybe it was painted over.

It has a few issues (humbucker doesn't work...), but even still it's better than my other good guitar.

Also: the selector switch is kind of old, and I don't know if that's causing the humbucker not to work, or what it is. If I touch the + wire at the pickup, I get a hum, and if I touch the pickup with a screwdriver I get a faint clicking noise, but it doesn't pick up the strings. Where can I find an explanation of pickup (or whole guitar) wiring?

thanks, metaljustice83.

As for amps, now I only have a Fender Chorus solid state for home practice. In my home studio, I go straight through either a POD, or roland, boss effects, and it sounds great.
I used to have a Peavey 5150 stack, but sold it along with my ESP Horizon Custom (what an amazing guitar). I regret it now, but at the time, I needed the money.

::sigh:: Alas, my list is short... but then, I'm a basist, I'm not supposed to have as many :).
Anyway, first and foremost, I have Debs, my primary bass. It's actually a carlo rabelli. You can find it in the catalogs for like 300. It's got gold hardware and a natural finish. Anyway, I played everything in 3 storess and this was the best feel (and it got a bit better when I lowered the action a touch). So, I figured screw brand names and picked it up. Only thing I like more is the ESP F-Series custom and I just don't have that kind of money.

I also, have my wife's short-neck explorer bass and Blue, my Ibanez S-series rip-off bullet-proof guitar from cort, but I don't play it much, cuz if I did I'd have more appreciation for it being bullet-proof.

Other guitars:

- Strat thing: Aria PR II body, Floyd Rose from a Satriani-Ibanez, scalloped neck from a Pro Martin, Seymour Duncan(?) Paf pro in bridge.

Allright here are my guitars:

I got this peavy raptor guitar, my first guitar actually and i know ill never buy peavy guitars for the rest of my life. God damn, this guitars was worst than buying a used car. Everything kept falling apart. Especially for the pickups, they were all loose and they were touching the string when i was playing hahaha ask me why i never knew.

Secondly, i have a Kent accoustic guitar. I really dont know what model or anything about this guitar cause it is my father first guitar and its about 35 years old no kidding! But damn she still plays well and the neck is still straight and had never move, and everything is in top shape.

Finally, ive got my little baby of mine. Its a Gibson Sg gothic edition. Ive been playing on my peavy 2 or 3 years and when i switched to this guitar i was just unbelievable. The gibson touch is godlike. damn i really fell in love with this guitar.

tom : This is true, in some kind a way. But for me, i've practice a lot the past few years and sometimes after praticing over a long period, you've come to the point that your playing is overwhelming your guitar(that often happens with your first guitar when it sound like crap) or you need a different sound to your new style or anything. I know how this feel to overwhelm a first guitar cause my first guitar was like crap and it was time for me to change. And if not, well just stay with the same god damn guitar cause that means you like it and its a good one. And a good one doesn't mean an expensive one or anything it just means that it fits YOUR style nicely.

Anyway i agree with the facts that a lot of people do not focus enough on their playing. In my case, i feel the same way but for all those players out there who own 20 millions of guitar effects pedals. That's maybe why i do not own a wah-wah pedal or almost anything that produce a different guitar sound or effect. Its been while since ive done an overdose of all those things. I like a good and simple sound. I agree sometimes that effects are really useful to the melody and the song in general but i've never seen a guitarist with all these pedals using each of them during a show or a jam session. At least, they should focus on a few specific effects i dont know. Its more about showing off and throwing money out of the window now than playing guitar.

P.S.: Just for the record my first wasnt a peavy raptor like i mentionned, it was a peavy predator i think its the cheapest from peavy hahah anyway it sucks but it was my first guitar so i did have a second chance :D

Shaun

My first and only electric guitar I have now is a black bcrich bronze series warlock (the bridge pickup is a Dimarzio evolution).

My first and only effects pedal is a Zoom Gfx707.

I have two amps. The first one amp that I am using is a NAshville 10 watts which sounds reallll good in its natural overdrive channel but sucks when effects are put into it. The second one is an Ibanez 10b (bass amp) but it OWNZ when effects are plugged into it. And its damn loud despite the fact that its a 10 watter.

I LLOOVVEEE my gear but I wouldn't mind to own an Ibanez RG3120...heheheheheheee:D

P.S.: Just for the record my first wasnt a peavy raptor like i mentionned, it was a peavy predator i think its the cheapest from peavy hahah anyway it sucks but it was my first guitar so i did have a second chance :D

yeah i saved for 6 moths for my pacifica its a excellent guitar i havnt out played it yet however i find it easy to play faster on the ibanez i only got my ibanez 3 years after my pacifica coz id be embarresed to play a good guitar and be **** i like to own ppl with my pacifica:)

I have a Washburn BT2, which was my first guitar and I've been playing it for years (really.) I like the feel of the guitar a handful of guitar techs told me the intonation, frets, tuners, etc. will never be perfect. I think it's time I bought a new american-mdae guitar that fits the bill...any suggestions? I've never really purchased a nice guitar before, so this process is new to me. Budget-wise, anywhere up to $1200 is alright. Thanks.

They are by "mail" order only, unless you happen to live in California. You can order guitars to your specifications, or buy one off the rack. If you don't like it, you can ship it back and only be out the cost of shipping. BTW, I just bought my first Carvin. Yee-haw!
