Opinions 'bout Peavey V-Type axe

Hi there,

does anybody have some experience concerning the Peavey V-Type guitar? Kinda seems to be a reissue of the Vandenberg model. Is the V-Type as good as a Vandy (EricV, you swear by it, don't you?). Since I believe this kind of "80s-style-guitars" to be very cool, I'd like to have some information 'bout the V-Type or the original Vandy, too.

Hey there,

Haven´t had a chance to get my hands onto a V-Type yet, I guess I´ll do so at one of the upcoming trade-shows.
They altered the design a bit. What I wanna know is whether the neck feels the same as it does on the originals ( the V-Type definitely is derived from the Vandenberg Signature ) and how the pickups sound.

I do use the original Vandenbergs yet. Not only because of the name, but also because it´s pretty much the perfect guitar for me.
The stripped one I have ( you saw and heard it ) is some kind of a proto-typ, it´s a bit different from all the other Vandenbergs I have seen yet. The neck is a bit thicker, feels great.
The red one is a regular production model.
All I did was change the position of the knobs, and put in DiMarzios ( HS3 and Super Distortion in the red one, Double Whammy and Fast Track II in the stripped one )

What I especially like is the sound ( it sounds way better than many of the 80´s "shred-guitars" ), the feel, the innovations about it ( angled bridge-PU ) and its durability. Didn´t have a problem with it yet, holds up great even to stage-abuse. Even the pots are still original, although the toggle switches are kinda cracking these days ( after 13 years )

I checked that site out. Crazy pics, huh?! Is there any serious brand out there which would ever come up with a pink guitar these days? I suppose no, but - anyway - I like that eighties stuff...

Well, my instrumental songs ( the ones on my site ) i.e. were mainly recorded on the stripped one. ( "Deja Vu" and "Dreamer" were recorded with my Strat )
So, if you feel like it, check out "Canyon Of Spirits" ( even the clean sounds in the background were done with the Vandy ), "Pay By The Note", "Into The Light"...
