Hey, anybody here who knows Dave Uhrich ?

He is an awesome guitarist/musician !

I had the chance to see him on a few workshops like 10 years ago, and not only was/is he such a fine player but also a great person and a very nice guy !!!

He had a vey cool website (it was at www.daveuhrich.com) , but for some reason the site is not up anymore .....

I was just wondering if anybody here knew him/his music .....

Of course I do. Back in 1994, I bought his "Fret-No-Tized" album, which I liked a lot. Back when I did those little "radiostreams" for the ibreathe forum last year, I played one or two of his songs ( "Alone Together"... very nice ballad )
Dave is an awesome player. Very versatile ( on "Fret-No-Tized", he reminded me of guys like Satch and Vai a lot, but he also had a kick-a** bluegrass-song on there, with some serious country-style shredding )
Very melodic, plenty of chops...

He released 3 albums, I believe. An early instrumental one, then "Fret No Tized" ( I wish I still had that CD... I lost it somehow, and it´s pretty much impossible to find these days ), and a new CD like 3 or 4 years ago which had vocals and some instrumentals... none of these albums really became famous, which is a bummer, cuz his brand of instrumental rock was pretty mass-compatible ( as mass-compatible as instrumental rock can be, you know... ). I guess he never got the exposure he deserved, wasn´t on a label that could have promoted him enough, and there was no internet back when Fret-No-Tized came out.
Last I heard was that he was doing clinics for Laney ( he also was an Ibanez endorser for many years ), i.e.at the 2003 NAMM ( check out this pic at the Racer X-Site: http://www.racerxband.com/pictures/namm2003/imagepages/image17.htm )

And some more info on him: http://www.melbay.com/authors.asp?author=1687

. I also saw the site you mentioned, and I meant to go there last week, but as you said, it´s gone. Who knows... maybe he had the same problem I had ( provider-trouble ), or he is doing other things these days ( which reminds me of Darren Householder... another amazing player who is a construction worker these days in order to support his family )
Thanks for mentioning him, brings back quite a few memories...

Hi Eric !

Yeah, I also have that CD 'Fret-No-Tized' !

Dave played with violin-legend Jerry Goodman on that CD. (Jerry played with McLaughlin in the 70ies if I'm not mistaken)
Really great stuff !

I hope his site is gonna' come back !!!

Very nice guy, wonderful player

yeah, dave uhrich,

damn´ you´re right. he´s such a brilliant player and a very warm and gentle guy.
I met him twice, right at the beginning of my guitar - "career".
I do have to thank him a lot, ´cause he was one of the very few who encouraged me to become serious about music.
man...
