Hi Guys/Girls!

Quick question ...
In the attachment (sorry its small) is the notation for the triplet feel. I believe that means "each time you see two eights beats play as... right hand side of ="

and what goes for the rest? what if you have quarter beats, ties, dotted and the rest of the freaks? How do you play those.

thanks

I would play the rest straight, not swung, because that's the normal way. If the composer had supplied information such as "Quarter note = Eight note + eight pause" I would play all the quarternotes staccato.

The feel notated is commonly called "swing." All eighth notes, rests or played notes, are swung sort of like triplets. So basically anything on an upbeat will be played a little bit later than if you were playing straight eighth notes.
