In the Article "A mouth full of rhythm"... the 2nd example on there is called "disco queen". The rhythm slashes are helpful, but I think Guni actually plays it slightly differently in his example, or maybe I'm hearing things.
Anyway, I've been working on getting it to sound exactly like it does in the example, my scratches still don't sound as good as they should. I've tried playing this with strict alternate picking, starting with up and downstrokes. But after naturally playing it (not concentrating on picking), alternate picking (or rather alternate strumming) is uncomfortable and feels very unnatural. In particular, during the 2nd measure, where there are the 8th notes, I do a double stroke at those places. Its far more comfortable for me since the upstokes align with the syncopation. If I alternate pick it, I start with an upstroke, a downstroke just feels really awkward and some parts are really hard to make sound right. I'm just not sure how to play it, right now I'm doing the downstroke method at those 2 places in the 2nd measure. I've attached a Powertab to show what I mean, any ideas. How do you guys play it?
