Hi,

Does anyone have any "slow down" software recommendations?

I'm transcribing some fast harmonica stuff (Blues Traveler) but I could use a little help!

There has got to be some good freeware (for Windows) that'll slow down songs but keep the original pitch. (Technically it's a fairly easy thing to do...)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

:D

There is a free plugin for the Winamp... itīs an extra panel that you can sue to slow down an MP3, either by moving a slider or by tapping in a new tempo with the left mouse-button...
I donīt remember the name, but you should be able to find this either at http://www.download.com or at http://www.winamp.com
Itīs called "Chrono-something", as far as I can remember.
It distorts a bit if you slow down an MP3 a whole lot ( which is not unusual ), but if youīre talking about slowing it down like I dunno, 10, 20 or maybe even 30 bpm, it should still be able to do so without distorting too much
Hope this helps

what's up?

If you got Creative Playcenter, you can slow down a song up to 50% doesn't sound too distorted to me.

Never use winamp's version b4...so I can't really do a comparison.

What's up?

Anybody tried the transkiber (http://www.reedkotler.com/transkriber.htm) or amazing slow downer (http://www.ronimusic.com/) b4?

Are they any good?

Okay, I have Playcenter re-installed but I can't figure out how to slow down music. Can you help me out?

ok, I'm using the newest version of the playcenter which would be 3.02.52

when you start up playcenter there should be a button inbetween the eject and fast forward button that's the slow motion forward button or you can press ctrl+L first click slows it down by 30% each click increases in an additional 5% reduction in speed until you reach 50%. Btw you can only slow down mp3 files.

Are they any good?I have used an unregistered version of the amazing slow downer. It works great. If unregistered, you can only use it on the first 25% of an mp3 or the first two tracks of a CD, if I recall correctly.

Cheers,
Dan

Hi all,

I downloaded the newest version of Playcenter and it works! Both mp3 and wma files are capable of being slowed down in this version.

The old version of Playcenter always crashed, but the new one seems pretty good so far.

It's much easier working out fast parts when you get to slow them down a bit!;)

Wow, if I was more into writing code that could have been me! :)

It looks like a decent program. I checked out some of his technical explanations and it looks like he delved into DSP the hard way. I went the *easy* way and had to take a bunch of that crap in school. Matlab rulz!

If Playcenter doesn't cut it for me I'll probably check his program next. The markers and looping ability in his program could be really useful on fast stuff.

I tried the Amazing Slow Downer but it was clunky (to me). The good part is that you can de-tune the songs in very small increments. When you figure out all those Eagles songs with whacked tuning this can be a lifesaver!! (did they tune to 442 or something weird, or is this an artifact from analog tape?)
