Is there a way to remove the tabs in powertabs while retaining the standard notation?

Uhm, I don't think so, since that is powertabs main feature, with the notation as an added bonus.

It your case, I would get Finale Notepad (Free version of finale) or Sibelius or any other notation program.

Why do you want to do that anyway?

For practicing sight reading. Standard notation to be more exact. Thanks for information.

It's a strange thing though...

I started with Powertab thinking great I can just tab and it will notate for me, which it does. But you have to select the note type from the classic "proper" note values to ensure your rhythm is correct. Putting in ties etc. when required, which you don't in the tab.

In which case I might as well just notate and ignore the tab. This is no bad thing.

I haven't tried it yet, but anyway I end up looking at the notation and working it from there, kinda rendering the tab aspect useless.

Yeah, Powertab is the best "half-way-between" tab and standard notation program I've used. I used it a lot, it made me more familiar with notating rhythm.

Try Sibhileilus errr... "sibelius"... it has a midi playback feature without the tab.

It's the same with guitar pro 4, you can remove the notation, but not the tab. :(

And to try to do with with some cut& paste system ( i.e. take a screenshot of like four measures of notation in Powertab, cut away the TAB in your favorite graphics editing proggie etc. ) would be too complicated, I guess

If all you want to do is practice sight reading, print it out, then use a marker and black out the tab section.
