3 not per string major scale

Hi All

I have a strange question. When playing the common 3 note per string C major scale starting on the 6th string 8th fret, 10th fret and 12th fret etc, I use my first, third and fourth fingers opposed to the popular first, "second", and fourth fingers. Would this affect my speed in any way? I know that Paul Gilbert uses the same fingering as I do when playing this same major scale, but then again he has the biggest hands I have ever seen. All other guitarists that I have met use the 1st, 2nd and 4th opposed to my 1st, 3rd and 4th.

Any help would be appreciated.

Totally agree with you.
What ever that feels good to you, you probably should continue doing it.

I've a friend who is classically trained in the piano, apparently she told me she dun always follow the fingering as directed in the score. Usually in the piano score, they would have some sort of fingering for you to follow.
