hey guys, standing up and playing electric, i can have it as low as i want and i have no trouble. But with acoustic, i can't play certain barre chords standing up, and i even have the strap fairly high. For example if im playing a minor 7th chord, say an F# minor 7th in the 9th position, the g string is completely muted because its as though my first finger just doesnt have the strength to barre it. But sitting I can do it fine, maybe because my wrist and whole hand is more supporting it, adding strength?

But anyways how can I specifically work on building strength so I can play these barre chords on acoustic while standing up?

Practice while standing up.

Also, one of my students made some very dramatic progress. I asked him if he practiced more and he said no, that he had purchased one of those hand strengtheners. He uses it at work, crunching away for 8 hours a day. After 2-3 weeks, the difference was remarkable.
