Muting Problem

When ever I pick fast on my e or b strings, I find that my muting sux. ITs like I can't mute right. It either rings out or sound percussive. I use a strat and I use the floating hand thing. Can anyone help me out?

You may try to only play the b string and then test with you left hand if you mute the upper strings (E A D G) succesfully. Try it with your e string too. All other trings should be muted, only the string you want to play should be able to ring.

So while sredding, the string I'm playing on shouldn't be muted?

Let tip of your left index finger touch the B string when playing E string, and touch the E string when you playing B string. Your finger should be kind of flat to do so..

Is your question that you want to mute the strings you're playing or the strings you're not playing? When I play I mute the strings, that I'm not playing, with my picking hand as I shown above.
