Hey everyone, I have been playing guitar now for about 5 solid years and I am just stating to go from Blues Rock to Shred Metal. I have always LOVED old Metal Bands. I can play alot of SRV Zeppelin Aerosmith ZZ Top Etc.. Anyway I have been finding myself more and more intrigued with Dave Mustaine/Marty Friedmans Style. When I listen to the solo of 99 Ways to Die, it SOUNDS like every note is being picked (except a few PO's) in the beginning when he's doing a decending pentatonic run. However, I am trying to play this and can only come up with the conclusion that there is some sweeping going on on the first 3 strings. If anyone has any insight on this it would be greatly appreciated. This is one of my absolute favorite solos. The rhythm is pretty easy but I just fall apart on that solo. I am fairly new to this site and all I have to say is THANK YOU Eric V!! Your articles have been extremely helpful! \m/

Oh yea Youthanasia is one of my all time fav albums through and through

yea that solo is easy.. its just fast single string picking really except for some scale runnin. Thi ssite rocks man I have been looking for a mature music community and I think ive found it! I searched the forums alot before I posted this so as not to double up on a subject.. I have really hear dthat much talk if any on that solo.. It sounds rather difficult.. of course diificulty is only determined by present skills
