i just got a hold of troy stetinas speed mechanics book and its amazing. i was hoping that if any of you have used it you could offer some advice on how to work through it( particularly the mechanics section) as it isn't really designed to be a start to finish kind of book.

A good advise is...Start reading the book, get a stiff pick and use your good ol' metronome...but the first one is the most important...START READING THE BOOK!!

i know what you mean by reading the book; his ideas are great. his sections on the art of practicing and the rhythm part are probably more beneficial for how to develop than the speed exercises themselves.

I have the same book. I havent made it past the first chapter yet, but it seems good. I just picked up a little metronome so I dont have to fire up the 8 trac everytime I want to practice. This book has great reviews everywhere, just be careful because I hurt my hand using these exercises, like he said in the book, if it hurts, stop! (I'm almost fully recovered)
