selling riffs and songs

Often when I’m noodling around I come across some cool riffs that aren’t what I would use for my songs but surely other artists and bands.
So I thought hey, maybe I could sell my ideas to those people or even producer. Has anyone done this yet or does somebody know how this would function?
Maybe I will build my own website and soon people from all over the world will make me rich

I´ve also been thinking about this for some time too. That being said, i also havent got a clue on how this would work, but i suppose what one could do is to get in contact with a music publisher, who could sell your songs to other artists.

I dont know how its working when you offer them "only" ideas/riffs and not a finished product. The best thing i think would be to hook up with another songwriter, so that he can finish your ideas and then get your stuff to a publisher.

Now if only I´d have someone to write with, the amount of good ideas/concepts is there, but the actual amount of finished songs has yet to grow.....
