    Chop= skill

If I say Malmsteen has good chops, it means he is a skilled guitarist.

    Exercises:
I am assuming that you can already sweep pick (if not read EricV's great article on the site).
Sweep tapping is really just a flashy technique. Nearly anything you can do with it can be done with your fretting hand. However, if you want to tap just sweep normally up to the E string and tap the ocatve as shown:

    E minor Arpeggio:
    t
    ---------------------7---12---7---------------------------------
    ------------------8--------------8------------------------------
    ---------------9-------------------9----------------------------
    ------------9-------------------------9-------------------------
    -----7-h10------------------------------10---------------------
    ----------------------------------------------------------------

Repeat with other barre chord shapes or 3 string sweeps as necessary.

If you want to get more advanced, you can tap with more than one finger on the right hand.

    E minor Arpeggio:
    t t
    ---------------------7---15-14--7-------------------------------
    ------------------8----------------8----------------------------
    ---------------9----------------------9-------------------------
    ------------9----------------------------9----------------------
    -----7-h10------------------------------------------------------
    ----------------------------------------------------------------

    Pretty much.

Romeo's tapping is more a flashy extension of his sweep picking, to hit a couple of extra notes. So there'll be the odd tapped notes in the examples, but not a massive number. He might also do the descending scale tapping where you do a 4nps pattern with tapping, but that's not sweeping.

Get his instructional dvd for more info.
