Absolute Newbie

Hi all,

I'm basically musically illiterate and probably tone deaf too. Not to mention i have fat fingers that just don't cooperate.

I played the trumpet in elementary school, but got kicked out of the class for taking my trumpet apart.

Tried the piano........ (fat retarded fingers)

Tried my buddy's guitar a few times.............. dumb chunky fingers again

Tried the drums ............... no rythym

Bought a harmonica, learned a few notes I just get winded too fast, I'm almost half way decent for about 60 seconds.

I want to play bass, I think it's it has an absolutely amazing sound, it has always excited me plus with only 4 strings it seems that i'd actually be able to work the chords.
I've always had a profound interest in music, alot more than most of my friends. It has always bugged me that I couldn't play an instrument, I was usually good at anything I tried, but when I had an instrument in my hand it always sounded like crap. Practice was something that I couldn't do, I'd do half an hour and expect to sound like Stevie Ray. Now i'm older and I have much more patience and composure and I understand that It's not going to happen over night, hey, it's probably not going to happen within the year.
Besides, I herniated a disc in my back so i'm out of work now and I have nothing but time on my hands, and there's only so much xbox I can play before going stir crazy.
