How about if Guni, or one of the other admins, posted an mp3 with a chord progression or a melody line on the site, and then see who could come up with a correct powertab version. This would be a great exersice for everybody and, I´m sure, lead to some interesting discussions. A friendly competition if you like.
Wow, that´s a really cool idea ! Good exercise to work on transcribing or simply recognizing intervals and progressions by ear.

Before the smart guys instantly post the answer, though, maybe there could be a little 'coaching'. I don't know how that would work, but I'm thinking there could be 'what to listen for' hints of some kind. Could that work?

It could work, I think.
Everyone could use these exercises according to his level. One of us could i.e. start to post an MP3 or a MIDI of some basic chords, once strummed, once arpeggiated.
If you need to, pick up your guitar, figure out the root and then try to find all the intervals you hear. More experienced players could test their ear, trying to recognize the type of chord ( add9, m7 etc. ).
Either one of the music advisors or even another "participant" could post some advice on how to figure out the chords, and then everyone can post his answers.
Also, maybe whoever posts an answer could include some comments on how he figured it out

It would be especially usefull to compare the different thought processes used to arrive at the same answer.
I like the idea of structuring the excercises for players of all levels.

yeah, I thought about possibilities like "Here´s a melody, harmonize it" etc. yesterday, too... lots of different things we could add to this.
