Like the latest DelaHoya -vs- Mosley fight

    Prince beats out B.B. King

Johnny Lang and Pat Martino battle to a draw.

    Dick Dale stomps Chet Atkins.

What in the wide-wide world of sports is going on here? :P At least it's fun.

Well, it didn't surprise me that he won. The rather large margin of victory was a surprise. I had to pull out my one and only Satch CD and give it a couple of listens after seeing the poll results.

    no problemo, it was fun!

Prince on the guitar totally kicks a**, dude! And I dunno why, cuz I like the blues, but B.B.'s playing has never done anything for me. And dude, Jonny Lang plays the guitar with more passion than just about anybody. That's why I like him.... dude. I will confess I am not familiar with Pat Martino.

Now here's what I don't get... no Duane Allman? no Jack White?

Joking aside, a notable missing name is Carlos Santana, eh?

Hendrix finishing at #11 I find somewhat surprising. I thought he would be in top 5 or at the very least top 10. The list seems to be skewed toward shredders. Not that there is anything wrong with that. But yes I agree that was fun. Lets have another!! Favorite singers maybe?

I think it would be kind of cool to have a few different ones. One just for say shredders, one for bules, one for jazz, etc.

    Question

I think it's pretty telling about how much of an effect Stevie Ray had since he's the only guy in the top 8 who couldn't play 32nd notes at 150 bpm (and probably wouldn't even know how to read them off a sheet of music if you put it in front of him).

Just a good ol' boy who played his *** off. Defintely some obvious biases on this board though Another thing I found interesting is that I'm mostly a jazz guy and I noticed that a lot of the jazzers were pretty close together around #40 (Yeesh).

*Best brotha accent* Go Scott Henderson; represent! (#19)

Hey, I'm willing to cut and paste and let Excel do the math, so if there's enough interest, we can do another. Maybe we should have a poll to see what the next poll should be.

    16 KIRK HAMMETT (85.0)

Quite disappointing considering those who came after him.
I don't want to be to harsh to the Metallica fans but Hammet shouldn't be in top 50.
As a guitar player he isn't anything special.
The talent in Metallica is Hetfield and it really doesn't matter who plays lead guitar.
