Scale positions was addressed in another thread but I still have questions about it:

Say I'm playing a G Major scale starting with my index on G at the third fret. That means I'm playing in THIRD position, right?

Now say I'm playing the same G Major scale but starting with my third finger on G. Is that still third position or second since my index finger has access to F#?
