Hi everyone, looking for a "software preamp"

Has anyone ever run across a "software preamp"?

don't know if it's of any use since the thread is from 07-03,

but you could try "amplitube" if your computer has enough power for realtime converting .

Thanks for the suggestions. The J-Station isn't for me but the Amplitube may be the ticket. I should have been more specific with my question. What I had in mind was a software thingy that would work between the Mac's audio input and GarageBand to boost the signal coming from an acoustic guitar. I'll be investigating the Amplitube tho.
