    Mac Tab Software

    Hi guys,

a friend of mine uses a Mac and is looking for a program to create nice-looking Tab ( incl. notation, so GuitarPro is not really an option ! ). Powertab ain´t no option either, since there is no Mac-Version of it.
Does anyone know a program that might fit the bill, something like Powertab for a Mac ?

He has been thinking about using one of these "Windows-simulators" ( I dunno what they´re called... you basically run Windows on the mac, parallel to the regular Mac-OS ), which would solve the Powertab-issue. But before he shells out the money for that ( AFAIK, we´re talking a few hundred bucks here ) he is looking for a cheaper solution...
    Thanks in advance
    Eric

    Hi Eric,

I don't know of any Tab editor for the Mac that runs as well as Powertab on Windows. Next to PCs I've been using Macs for ages and the only resonable solution seems to be Finale (bearing in mind that I'm not up to date when it comes down to Mac software).

Re: windows emulators. About a year ago I tried one of these and personally I can't recommend this option. The emulation eats up a lot of processing power, which slows things down quite a bit. If ya really wanna get down to work that's hell annoying - and it's never the real thing.

And for the price of an emulator I guess someone can buy Finale.

    Yes it does.

In my opinion Finale is the best pro notation software. It takes quite some time to get into it as it offers a hell of options, but the result is top quality. I used to work with it a lot during my berklee years. From leadsheet to Tab to orchestral scores: it handles everything.

all the people that have used finale that i know have been over joyed with its preformance. My band director from high school was thrilled with it. It saved him literally hours of time in writing music. Anyways

    Mac, music editor

Please, download for free the new Igor engraver 1.6 for Mac from internet. It is better than finale, please do that and tell me later.
