I grew my nails for classical guitar but have since found that my two-hand tapping sounds terrible. My nails seem to be hitting the fret board and the tone isn't as clear as it should be....anyone have any experience with this? any suggestions?

Yeah I have had this, loads of times I have chewed my nails off mid jam. Just have to keep em short. I prefer the sound of classical guitar without nails anyway.

I dont have any experience with this...the girls seem to like short fingernails though
How bout using finger picks though? I'd imagine they serve the same purpose, although will no doubt take some getting used to...
If you cut off your nails and do a whole lot of four-finger right hand tapping, you'll get calluses on your right hand fingertips and that will give you somewhat more of a sharp attack when fingerpicking.
I faced the exact same problem you are having last week. The best thing to do may be to tap with your pick instead of your fingers. Otherwise, you can try moving your finger more parallel to the fretboard so you arent tapping with the end tip of your finger. You may try playing classical with no nails, or using some fingerpicks, but both are considered sacrilage in the world of classical guitar.
