    New Setup Advice Please!

    Hi,

though i should probably post this now with the forum closing and all.
Im currently playing on a Strat copy (S-S-H) through a Marshall MG15, but im feeling the need to upgrade, i mostly play Zeppelin, Cream (most classic rock stuff really) songs. Ive been looking at the Gibson Les Paul Studios, but ive got a few q's

Is there much any tonal difference between the studios and standards?
Do the studios come with pickguards?

Also in need of a new amp, preferably not a full valve, have been looking at the Mashall AVT 50s, are these any good?
If not what would be a better amp for around the money, or less!
    hehe

    Many thanks in advance

    Matt

I have an ebony Les Paul studio which does have a pickguard. My understanding that the lower studio price is all due to csmetic differences (no binding etc.) but tone is equivalent to an LP standard.
At any rate my 2 cents is that I absolutely love the guitar

Well the sound is a bit different (between studio & standard), never the less I consider a new studio a great buy.

Also in need of a new amp, preferably not a full valve, have been looking at the Mashall AVT 50s, are these any good?

    Why not full valve?

My advice about the amp is try to see if you can get anything used, thats how I got my amp, and I love it.

About the studio- go for it! Thats really a nice guitar

My main reason for not wanting a valve is the volume! Too loud!
Thanks for the advice, was looking at the fireburst studio, they look so nice!
