    hey metalisfun:

Lets keep it clean, no need to start arguments and flame wars about which bands are better. I do not like tool, but I can aknowledge both bands have put out alot of good stuff that alot of people dig, and both are extremely talented when it comes to technical abilities and also coming up with great melodies and lyrics.

People who argue about which player is the best need to grow up. Music is not a game, nor is it a sport.

On a side note: Operation Mindcrime is still #1 for the best concept album to me. My friends and I are still unsure exactly what happens, although a bunch of different ideas come up each time we listen, I'm not sure anyone will ever have the definitive answer. Kamelots new album is really good too, people who dig DT and QR should check it out or listen to some samples at amazon.com , reminds me of a mix of the two.

The album cover symbolism was pretty obvious to me actually. The five black crows between the eight metal balls represent the five members of the band and the eight metal balls represent the Octavarium they are trapped inside. Take note all the five crows are flying between the strings by which the metal balls are suspended, so thus they are inside the Octavarium.
It wasn't hard to see for me, but then again I love symbolism so I may see things faster at times than others may

Sorry, accidental brain fart there. Normally I avoid necroing threads on most forums. Ehhh...we all make mistakes right?

Lightbulb Mike Portnoy's Lyrics might e the right clue

    [Lyrics: Mike Portnoy]

    [Root]
Our deadly sins feel his mortal wrath
Remove all obstacles from our path

    [Second]
    Asking questions
    Search for clues
The answer's been right in front of you

    [Third]
    Try to break through
    Long to connect
Fall on deaf ears and failed muted breath

    [Fourth]
    Loyalty, trust, faith and desire
Carries love through each darkest fire

    [Fifth]
    Tortured Insanity
    A smothering hell
Try to escape but no avail

    [Sixth]
    The calls of admirers
    Who claim they adore
Drain all your lifeblood while begging for more

    [Seventh]
    Innocent victims of merciless crimes
Fall prey to some madmen's impulsive designs

    [Octave]
    Step after step
    We try controlling our fate
When we finally start living it has become too late

    Trapped inside this Octavarium
    Trapped inside this Octavarium
    Trapped inside this Octavarium
    Trapped inside this Octavarium
