If you have a nice voice, sing "and I love her" from the beatles. It's such a beautiful song, if she doesn't melt like ice in fire she's not the right girl for you! (or you voice sucks )

Depends on type... Sometimes they don't like boring ballads I remember that once "Under My Thumb" by Rolling Stones worked fine for me She loved self-confident men

    Under my thumb
The girl who once had me down
    Under my thumb
The girl who once pushed me around

    It's down to me
The difference in the clothes she wears
Down to me, the change has come,
    She's under my thumb

    etc

You may be right Zatz, sometimes girls want a "real man"!
In that case I would wear a chemise so that she can see your chest hairs (an undershirt works as well) and grow a beard (if you can ).
Then take out your steel string and play some fast wild country stuff.(if you can). I tell you, she'll go nuts! Good luck!

For a maximum effect you gotta play one of the dream guitars - like the ones we talked about here

It depends on what effect you are going for...Ben Harper's "Another lonely day" seems to always be a good choice.

Nothing works better than a song you wrote yourself, if you can write lyrics/poetry and a chord progression to go with it. Just another idea on the table.
Home is where you hang your guitar.

First of all, it's a wonderful idea to play something for that girl. Best wishes for your success!

Suggestions (keep in mind I'm german and may have overlooked some lyrical footfalls!):

    - "To be with you" by Mr. Big

    - "Straight from the heart" by Bryan Adams

    - "At my most beautiful" by REM (might be hard to arrange for acoustic guitar, wonderful song, though)

    - "Hello" by Lionel Richie ("Tell me how to win your heart/for I haven't got a clue/but let me start by saying I love you.")

    - "Right here waiting" by Richard Marx

    Once again: good luck!

No way, if this girl is classy you have to play some "Hammer Smashed Face"...

Youl could always play Sleep Walk, Starry Night, or something along those lines from Satriani. If it's her birthday you should definitely play the song called "Spirit Journey Formation Anniversary" by Zakk Wylde, Master Shake, and Geddi Lee...
    Here's the song:
    http://content.ytmnd.com//80000/80890/sound.mp3
    Here's the lyrics:
Deep within the womb of time,
    a creature thus be born
The seed of life is united with
    the egg of tyranny
Gestates forth from within the womb of life
for three-quarter and nigh a year
    The creature thus be born!
    The creature thus be formed!
    And ye of years...
    [Your current age + bells]
    Will chime!
    When the heavens open up
and drink from the silver cup
    The creature thus be born!
    And blow the magic horn!
To alert the spirit deep within the cycle of life.
The creature has begun it's journey deep forlorn,
upon this day which he be formed
In the sea of mucus the spirit rides down from the mountain
and unites with the creature in the womb
A holy union, dark mortality, until the dark mortality
    breaks the chain of life
    The creature thus be born
And every year raineth down the celebratory tears
    A celebration of the years
    from mere mortal sky

It would definitely score you some brownie points...lol.

From a girls perspective its a very sweet idea (and also slightly humerous!!)

almost anything (not inc. 'ra' music!!) that is slightly sweet is nice....but cheezy is bad!!

    id say...
(and brace yourself for the most overused line in the history of presents....!)
....its the thought that counts.....if shes nice she prob wont care what it is too much.....
(i know its a cliche but... eh what are ya gonna do)

oh but it will matter if shes not ah....'musically inclined' and you keep talking about your guitar....pay attention as to whether she is faking her interest in your stories about the "time i played at..." etc!!!!!
ive seen it happen to a good mate of mine before, he loves his bass and wouldnt shut up about it to his new 'interest'....it didnt end pretty for either of them..... he was sad and couldnt understand what happened and she was pissed off and thought he was a knob brain.... no preassure or anything....

so just put it at something right in the middle of romantic and just generally chill music......that should be fine....but it all really depends on her!!!

    good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!
doctors examined my head, and found nothing.... surprise surprise!!

Find a song she likes, and play that. It might impress her more if you play something she knows and listens to than something obscure, or something she doesn't like.

    Try a nicely arranged jazz-ballad ....

I'd like "It might as well be spring" played in a chrod-melody style with some ebellishements and improvised lines in between.

This might take some serious practicing, though ...

So, after the date, let us know whether you scored or not ....

what about a frank sinatra tune?
And if she likes RHCP, I'd choose Road trippin' because the picking is very impressive for non guitar players I think?! ;-)
BTW-TIP: Don't play "Goodbye, nice to know you" by Incubus ;-) muharhar

    Good Luck,
