Angry Help!!Impossible Music Exercise Involving Ties

Hey guys, new to the forum and new to music. I'm taking a rudiments of music class at Penn State and I've come upon an impossible exercise. The excerise asks for me to rewrite the following rythmic pattern in the indicated meter, to do so it will require ties and the division of some notes.

So here is the rhythmic pattern:

doted quarter note, eighth note, half note, quarter rest, eighth note, eighth note, eighth note, sixteenth note, sixteenth note, doted quarter note, quarter rest, eighth note, doted quarter note, quarter note, eighth note, quarter note, quarter note.

That rythmic pattern needs to be rewritten in 3/4 using ties or by dividing some notes. I've done it 100 times and I always end up with an eighth note left over. Please help!!! This exercise is driving me nuts! Thanks guys!!

I've got exactly 5 bars of 3/4. There is a quarter note rest and a quarter note that go over the barline (+ of beat 3 and downbeat of beat 1 in the next measure), perhaps that's what's throwing you.

    Exercise Music

yeah -- if you're interested in EXERCISE MUSIC.....for gym music or music for fitness in general, I recommend European dance music.......

it's always the best motivational tool for me...

.... here's a compilation series on iTunes that I recommend -- the "Euro Club Hits" series:

    Agreed

So here is the rhythmic pattern (arranged by bar):

dotted quarter note, eighth note, half note (as quarter-quarter)
(quarter), quarter rest, eighth note, eighth note,
eighth note, sixteenth note, sixteenth note, dotted quarter note, quarter rest (as eighth-eighth)
(eighth rest), eighth note, dotted quarter note, quarter note (as eighth-eighth),
(eighth), eighth note, quarter note, quarter note.
