Hello musical people!

Hello everyone, this looks cool forum to talk about music.

Let me tell you a little about myself. I've been lurking here a few days, I really liked the discussions you guys talk about and I'm just itching to reply. I like alot of music styles and different instruments. Such as all things rock from the 60's - 90's, classical, my favorites are Beethoven and Rachmaninov. I also like electronic music, some hiphop though im not so fimiliar with that. I love blues, I absolutley adore jazz. I would say I listen to almost anything, but I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to everything (maybe that is an area for improvment!). I am fascinated by the science behind music, but I don't know nearly enough about about it, I am half way through reading a book called "This is Your Brain on Music", which I highly recomend. I've been into music since I was a wee laddie, I think if I didn't have music I would go insane, more then my current level of insanity anyway . So, enough about me, tell me about yourselfs, what kind of things do you like and who are you most influenced by as an artist?

Welcome. "So, enough about me, tell me about yourselfs, what kind of things do you like and who are you most influenced by as an artist?"

I'm Country in public and blues/jazz is played at home up in my pout, aka music study. Play rhythm and bass guitar in a couple of local bands, a little keyboard at home for enjoyment, and there is a clarinet gathering dust over in the corner. Old classic country mostly I'm a fan of Clapton for blues and on jazz I like the old standards. One of these days I'm hoping a double bass will join the family.

Music theory is a hobby as is sailing, sculling and ham radio. Retired in 2000 and most everything is still working, with a few electronic aids. Married for 54 years. Our only child is 5 hours away, leaving shortly to spend some time with her and her family. Enjoying the retired life in a small East Texas town.

Again, welcome.
