Gone till monday / Economy Picking
Alrighty, guys,
just wanted to let you know that IŽll be gone for a few days... got two shows coming up as a "hired gun" this weekend, and so, IŽll be practically gone all weekend until sometime on Monday... But I do have another little exercise: This one is a nice exercise for economy picking. Economy picking is another picking technique that you might wanna add into your technique-repertoire. ItŽs a mix-up of alternate- and sweep-picking, and works great for three note per string-scales / licks. It works like this: If you do have three notes on each string, you start on a low string with a downstroke, then it goes up, down. Now, when skipping to the next string, you continue the picking motion and play yet another downstroke. If you do this continously, you get d-u-d-d-u-d-d-u-d etc. This is the exercise: Of course you can use other patterns, keys and scales too... or play 6 string-licks, too... Anyway, economy picking is another great tool, but see it as only ONE picking-technique. Alternate picking etc. is way better for licks with a different amount of notes per string, like i.e. playing pentatonic licks etc. But try this one and see what it can do for you ! Warm regards, and IŽll see ya next week ! Warm regards Eric |
