a little help with a solo...

First off... im new at this forum, so hope u guys are helpful... pretty sure u are. Ok the problem I'm having is with a solo from one of the great metal songs... Master of Puppets... I dont know how to do the tremolo work that kirk does... it says to pull the string off the edge of the neck and to fret it against the pickup... but when i do it... it doesnt sound as good... in fact it sounds like crap... wondering if any of u guys know how to pull it off...

this part.... i dont understand how to do it.

trem bar
/-1-\ /---2---\
\ /\ / \ / \ /\ /\
* \3/ \1.5/ \/ \1.5/ \1.5/ \1.5
e |X--------------------------|------------------------------------|
B |---------------------------|------------------------------------|
G |---------------------------|------------------------------2--4--|
D |---------------------------|------------------------------------|
A |---------------------------|------------------------------------|
E |---------------------------|------------------------------------|

* This note produced by pulling string off edge of fretboard and
"fretting" it against pickup.
