Jason Becker a God amongnsts shreders
why is it that everyone sees malmsteen as like the best shred player jason becker took his style of playing to an unreachable level of amazing hights with so much originality in each piece and yet everyone praises malmsteen for reaming old and the same and never changing. Becker has inspired and influenced me 10 times more because of such diversity and malmsteen has imspired me once which got me into shred. Just wondering why malmsteen is praised and becker dosent get his well deserved credit(especialy going through A.L.S)

it's simply a question of how people (malmsteen and becker in this case) effect others with their work ... i like both of them and i don't think anyone is better then the other .... they are different fullstop. Now for some people they might find a more intimate emotional connection with one guitarist more than with the other.
Becker is a very good guitarist maybe due to his present condition he was not allowed enough time to become really big unfortunately these things also work with publicity and exposure.

Jason Becker unfortunately due to his having ALS, can no longer play (nor speak, nor move for that matter). He can no longer obviously tour, or compose any other music; primarily why he won't be able to stand up along side with Yngwie, because he won't have the chance to establish himself any further than he already has.

Well i do understand thoes factors but i do belive becker is very much butter than malmsteen on the simple scale that he isnt the same patter over and over again you can listin to every malmsteen almbum and here a lick u heard in the previous. I know becker didn't put out much stuff but you can still tell by what he put out that he didnt leave himself in one area of music. But i am acctualy suprised that his condition didnt get more fans with him because the public is drawn to sympathy. But I guess my real question would me more or less why do "nice guys finish last" malmsteen is unbalivabley egotisitc and isnt even that great of a guitar player(with the exception of his technical comand) and becker is the exact opposite. As a matter of fact he even put down malmsteen in a 20 questions interview with some magazine which thier is a link on his website to.

He's workin on that........ Jason is one of my heros. Not only with music but with the way he lives his life and accepts what has happened with him. Everytime I have a challenge in my life or a difficulti doing somthing, he is ALWAYS in the back of my mind. I just keep truckin because I know that my life aint **** compared to Jason's. As for Yngwie being overrated...I could not agree more |

That has to be the dumbest thing I've read in a very long time. The popularity of each individual is not at the expense of the other one.

How long has Becker been around? One reason for his popularity may be because Yngwie was around at a time (80s) where uberfast guitar playing had more potential for popularity.
Anyway, I like them both.

Of the two guys in Cacaphony Marty had much more 'feel ' than becker. Yngwie has more feel too. I am not sure you really know what feel is if you think his playing is devoid of emotion. Yes he is fast and somewhat technical (although I think Becker is more technical), but Yngwie has BIGTIME feel, like Hendrix or Trower or Stevie Ray. Becker was an awesome player I dig him a lot and really appreciate what he and Marty were doing, So is Yngwie. You need to get over this comparison thing, it is all good. Guys like Becker would have never made it with out Yngwie paving the way, because Mike Varney was looking for Yngwie clones. It is all good. Get on with it and be positive about something.
